ILOG was founded in 1987 with seed funding from France’s preeminent IT research institute, INRIA (the French National Institute for Research in Computer Science and Control). The company started with a simple idea: software components that leveraged artificial intelligence techniques could be commercialized to create the next generation of software applications. In fact, “ILOG” is a shortened version of “intelligence logicielle,” which means "intelligent software” in French.
As ILOG celebrates twenty successful years—including ten years on NASDAQ— we are proud that our products have evolved to meet our customers’ needs for software that helps them better manage change and complexity. Our offerings have expanded to include components, platforms and applications.

ILOG has grown from a handful of people in a small office in Paris to a multinational company with more than 800 employees in nine countries, focused on four key values: technical excellence, integrity, dedication to customers and commitment to our employees’ success.
