ILOG Competency Center
Even faster to market
ILOG’s business rule products bring crucial enterprise solutions to market fast. Now ILOG is packaging proven code and best practices as frameworks that further accelerate time to market.

Behind this effort is the new ILOG Competency Center at the company’s offices in Singapore. The center makes solution frameworks that enable users worldwide to rapidly develop fully customized solutions with ILOG’s business rule products.

The center’s staff includes six graduates from the Training and Attachment Program (TAP) run by Singapore’s Economic Development Board (EDB). They joined the center as full-time employees after finishing a 15-month training program at ILOG’s facilities in France and California.

"These individuals have core competencies for extending ILOG’s Business Rule Management System to meet customers’ specific requirements," says Bounthara Ing, chief operating officer at ILOG. "This makes them not only an important asset to ILOG, as they enhance our competitiveness in the BRMS market, but also to Singapore’s growing knowledge workforce."

The TAP graduates are not new to ILOG’s solution framework program. While training with ILOG, they participated in the development of ILOG Solution Accelerators, which bring together business rule language templates, modeling tools, and out-of-the-box reporting and auditing features.

"We are pleased that ILOG has decided to base its first competency center in Singapore," says Mr. Tan Chek Ming, assistant managing director of the EDB. "Together with ILOG, we will develop more capabilities to support this industry."

To learn more about the center, contact ILOG Singapore directly by e-mail at info@ilog.com.sg. Information on ILOG’s solution-specific offerings can be found at www.ilog.com.

ILOG Gantt for .NET 2.0
Ready for the Web
Microsoft .NET is catching on with server-side applications running ASP.NET. To support this trend, ILOG has released ILOG Gantt for .NET 2.0. It delivers a complete set of Web Form controls for using ILOG Gantt charts in Web Form/ASP.NET applications. ILOG Gantt charts can now be published through the Internet, enterprise portals and collaborative websites based on Microsoft SharePoint.

"Our customers have two distinct uses for Gantt charts: reporting and monitoring applications that must be Internet-enabled, and modeling applications whose intensive editing requires the power of desktop applications," says Patrick Mégard, marketing director of visualization products at ILOG. "We’re answering demand by giving users Windows and Web Form controls for Gantt charts in one product."

As with Windows Form controls, Web Form controls are completely integrated with Visual Studio .NET. Developers create a Web Form application by dragging and dropping controls into a form and then setting their parameters. At runtime, the server generates the HTML code for the application and sends it to the browser. No special browser or plug-ins are required, as any Web client can display an ILOG Gantt chart at any time, and code developed for a Windows Form application can be leveraged in a Web Form application, and vice versa.
