PSA Group Standardizes with ILOG Optimization
Deal further strengthens long-running alliance with ILOG

The PSA Peugeot Citroën group has purchased an internal license to ILOG Server and the ILOG Optimization Suite in a deal worth more than $1 million in products and services.

PSA has been an ILOG customer for nearly a decade, and has repeatedly demonstrated its confidence in ILOG through purchasing group-wide standardization agreements. Europe's second-largest vehicle maker, PSA earned revenues of $33.7 billion in 1998 on the production of nearly 2.3 million vehicles, an 8.7 percent increase over 1997.

"ILOG components are proven," says Mr. Lafaurie, chief information officer at PSA. "They enable us to develop advanced applications that specifically complement our packaged software, and improve both production and product quality."

PSA already widely uses ILOG Rules, ILOG JRules and the ILOG Visualization Suite. The group builds and maintains its workflow applications with the rule-based components, and has built the graphical user interfaces of many of its critical production applications with the ILOG graphics suite.

The new three-year contract will allow PSA to complement its SAP enterprise resource planning system with custom optimization applications based on ILOG's industry-leading optimization components. The components will be used in supervision, configuration, car sequencing, and production planning and scheduling applications.

"This deal gives ILOG a better grasp of the manufacturing challenges facing PSA," says Denis Sennechael, ILOG French Manufacturing Business Unit Manager. "By working together with end users like Peugeot, we ensure our products remain the most advanced for solving extremely complex manufacturing problems."

By selling directly to certain customers confronted with highly complex problems, ILOG is able to gain invaluable knowledge for improving its software components. This strategy complements the company's distribution of products through resellers and integrators by enabling ILOG to anticipate future trends.

ILOG is the only vendor of optimization components that offers an extensive line of proven algorithms in both constraint and linear technologies, according to industry analysts Benchmarking Partner Inc. Furthermore, the components' cooperative capabilities enable the rapid solution of large problems unapproachable with other technologies and once considered impossible to solve.

Adonix to Use ILOG in ERP
Deal extends reach of ISV's products and services

Adonix has signed a deal enabling the company to integrate ILOG optimization and visualization components into its enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.

Started in 1979, Adonix is an independent software vendor (ISV) that specializes in ERP packages for small- and medium-sized companies. It develops, implements and supports enterprise-wide application systems for managing distribution, manufacturing, finance and human resources operations. The company's customer base includes such notable organizations as Allen-Bradley, Yoplait, L'Oreal, Siemens, Apple Computer and Lotus, and represents over 3,500 installations.

"We fully support the extended enterprise model," explains Emile Hamou, Adonix CEO. "ILOG's cutting-edge components will greatly accelerate the delivery of our e-business solutions."

ILOG brings to the deal the most advanced optimization and visualization software components for developing ERP and SCM applications: ILOG Solver, ILOG Scheduler, ILOG Views, ILOG JViews and ILOG Server. Renowned throughout the world, the components currently power a vast variety of mission-critical applications used in manufacturing, telecommunications and transportation.

"Working with Adonix enables us to demonstrate our expertise in advanced visualization and optimization components for strategic enterprise applications," says Bill Scull, ILOG vice president of worldwide marketing. "ILOG's success stems primarily from the support of top ERP and supply-chain management ISVs like Adonix."

The ISV is a pioneer in the development of business applications specifically for UNIX, Windows NT, and the Oracle and SQL Server databases. The company strives to provide its customers with solutions that are easy to install, customize, and operate.

Adonix plans to use the ILOG components in building an interactive scheduling module for the next version of Adonix X3, an all-new ERP system released in June. The new system is particularly well suited for midsize companies that usually have to compromise between essential functionality and cost when selecting a new ERP system.

Adonix recently extended its product offerings and geographic coverage beyond Europe by merging with Prodstar, a leading European supplier of manufacturing systems, and GSI Transcomm, a U.S.-based company recognized internationally for its TOLAS distribution applications. GSI Transcomm has since changed its name to Adonix Transcomm.

Alcatel Rebuilds Network Management Interfaces with ILOG
ILOG Components play major role in system's complete face-lift

Using renowned ILOG visualization components, industry leader Alcatel has completely rebuilt the graphical user interfaces (GUIs) of its 1320 SONET network management system.

A collection of operation-specific applications, SONET is Alcatel's best-selling system for managing telecom activities. It is used to monitor networks, route phone traffic and provide real-time operating data on equipment.

"ILOG components have played a major role in Alcatel's 1320 NM graphics development effort," says Jerry Power, director of the 1320 product line. "Using ILOG Views, we were able to quickly build intuitive and fast representations of the network, taking full advantage of the sophisticated mapping capabilities delivered with the product."

Working with both ILOG Views and its Java version, ILOG JViews, Alcatel created powerful GUIs that allow operators to view an entire network and quickly respond to its alarms.

With annual sales of $25 billion, Alcatel became one of the first major telecom suppliers to be "powered by ILOG" when it purchased ILOG components in 1994. Since then, the company has based more than 20 telecom applications on ILOG products.

ILOG components are widely used in the telecommunications industry for their unmatched time to market, speed, flexibility and scalability. Already most of the top telecom operators and software vendors use ILOG products in pivotal applications for network management, alarm filtering and correlation, and customer service and technician dispatching.
