Broner Releases ILOG-Powered APS
ILOG CPLEX backs Demand Manager

Supplying the metals industry with advanced planning and scheduling (APS) systems, Broner Systems Ltd. has made generally available its Demand Manager optimization module, built around ILOG CPLEX and ILOG Solver.

The optimizer balances the costs and constraints of the supply chain against the demand opportunities and pricing of the market. Based on a common financial model, Demand Manager provides decision support in all areas of the business.

The release of the new module comes in the wake of Broner's $1.7 million deal to supply Dofasco Inc., Canada's largest steel maker, with Melt Shop Scheduler (MSS). Driven by ILOG Scheduler and ILOG Solver, MSS optimizes the casting and hot-mill operations of a steel plant.

Dofasco's decision to go with MSS was based on Broner's proven ability to fully optimize the scheduling of mill production and the widespread usage of the company's systems in the industry.

Both modules benefit from the latest advances in ILOG optimization technology. They make supply-chain scheduling more agile, enabling steel plants to respond more quickly to customer demand while reducing costs and delivery times.
