Annuncio Picks ILOG JRules for e-Tailer Solution Making decisions easier for online shoppers, Annuncio Software, Inc., has selected ILOG JRules for Annuncio Bright, an e-merchandising and web personalization solution. ILOG JRules is the first Java software component to place rule creation and deployment in the hands of business operators. Embedded in Annuncio Bright, it will speed up deployment of personalized merchandising campaigns on the Internet. "Rule-based merchandising and web personalization are important core technologies of our Annuncio Bright product," says Didier Moretti, chief executive officer and founder of Annuncio. "We initially selected ILOG JRules because it was flexible and easy to embed, speeding our time to market. The customizable business rule language feature in ILOG JRules should enhance our ability to create an e-merchandising campaign-specific business rule language that our customers will easily understand." Already clothing retailer Jessica McClintock, Inc., plans to launch its first electronic storefront, using Annuncio Bright with ILOG JRules. The web site will enable customers to browse an online catalog personalized to their regions by showing locally available products and promotions. It will also be able to automatically recommend matching accessories, extending the sales process. ILOG JRules was selected to enhance Annuncio Bright’s ability to support marketing campaigns. The application makes it easy for personnel to target offers and merchandise, without the help of a programmer. ILOG JRules provides the flexibility needed to quickly create rule-driven promotions.
SCT Optimizes e-Solution with ILOG A global developer of e-business solutions for the process industries, Systems and Computer Technology Corp. (SCT) is extending its scheduling solution, Fygir Advanced Scheduling, with ILOG Scheduler, ILOG's top C++ optimization product for modeling and scheduling operations. 
Fygir Advanced Scheduling, a component in the SCT iProcess.sct e-business suite, is a finite-capacity scheduling solution built specifically for such process industries as food and beverages, consumer packaged goods, chemicals and pharmaceuticals. "SCT is pleased to strengthen our strategic partnership with ILOG," says Denis Mulder, vice president of supply-chain planning solutions at SCT. "ILOG optimization engines are becoming the standard for the industry because they provide the power and flexibility needed in APS systems. Embedded in Fygir Advanced Scheduling, ILOG Scheduler will provide high-performance constraint-programming algorithms that simplify problem modeling and solution generation. SCT already uses ILOG Solver and ILOG CPLEX in Fygir Advanced Planning, SCT's solution for supply-chain network and production capacity planning; procurement, recipe and shelf-life optimization; and available- and capable-to-promise distribution. The ILOG optimization components help iProcess.sct equip process manufacturers with powerful Internet storefronts closely tied to underlying business systems. The solution provides such rich functionality as real-time capable-to-promise and advanced supply-chain optimization to enable companies to plan and deliver orders to their customers.
First Union Takes Lending Online with ILOG Applying for mortgage loans online has taken a quantum leap forward in speed and sophistication with the new First Union Loan Arranger, a fully automated, self-service system developed for First Union Home Equity Bank. Using the industry-leading optimization engine ILOG Solver, Loan Arranger considers customers' individual requirements in determining loan packages. It draws from a set of predetermined formulas in assisting customers, and can offer alternatives if a requested loan product or amount is not available. "Customers applying for loans want immediate decisions, but they also want to know that their requests have received careful consideration," says Chris Oddleifson, president of the First Union. "Mortgage brokers, meanwhile, want technology that maximizes the potential and speed of finding the right loan products for their customers. "The ability to offer instant, tailored loans online to customers, enabled by ILOG technology, is unprecedented in our industry, and we're excited by the prospects." ILOG Solver is based on constraint programming technology that differs from anything else currently being used for customer self-service today, as it can suggest the closest matches between buyer needs and current offerings.
