ILOG ranks 166th
ILOG continues its rise up the Software 500 list, reaching 166th place in 2007 – the company’s highest ranking in four years on the list. In 2006, ILOG held 174th position, 30 places higher than the year before.

Widely respected as an authority on the software industry, Software Magazine (www.softwaremag.com) has compiled the Software 500 for 25 years. The list is based on an annually conducted survey, and shows the world’s largest private and public software and services companies.

Ranking is determined by revenue, and organizations the world over use the list in making crucial decisions about IT products and services.

Global coverage
In "Applications Go Worldwide," the Software Magazine article summarizing the results from the 2007 Software 500 survey, John P. Desmond writes: "The worldwide distribution of application development, maintenance and management services of all kinds is evident in the results of the 2007 Software 500 survey. More companies list system integration services/IT consulting – including a number of offshore services providers – as their primary business sector. System integration was cited by 29 Software 500 companies as their primary business sector, and employment in that sector increased 15 percent from 2005 to 2006, the survey ranking year."

ILOG has expanded greatly in recent years. It has opened new offices in Australia, China and the United States, invested in key industry players FirstTech and Prima Solutions, and purchased LogicTools, a rapidly growing provider of supply chain applications.

ILOG has more than 800 employees now, and is strategically positioned to provide both software products and consulting services worldwide.

Mortgage Technology

ILOG in top list for 5th year
For the fifth consecutive year, ILOG has been listed on Mortgage Technology’s top list of technology providers. ILOG first made the grade in 2003, when it was listed on Mortgage Technology’s Top 100 Providers list. In 2006, the list was narrowed to only 50 vendors, but ILOG still earned a place.

Mortgage Technology keeps decision makers in the mortgage industry informed of the latest technologies for their business sector through a monthly publication and a website (www.mortgage-technology.com). Vendors are selected based on customer satisfaction, functionality, market share and revenue model.

ILOG’s success in this sector comes primarily from its business rule management system (BRMS) products: ILOG JRules and ILOG Rules for .NET. Its BRMS technology is widely used in loan and credit decisioning solutions such as prequalification and automated underwriting applications. Freddie Mac, Ameriquest Mortgage Company, CitiMortgage and other leading mortgage institutions rely on ILOG BRMS in key applications, and ILOG has formed partnerships in this solution area with companies that include Tavant Technologies.

Last year, the Mortgage Industry Standards Maintenance Organization (www.mismo.org) awarded their MXCompliance certification to ILOG for ILOG JRules, making it the first BRMS to meet the organization’s standards for XML data exchange.

ILOG + LogicTools = 'master stroke'
In a recent Industry Trends article from ARC Advisory Group, Simon Bragg writes that “ILOG’s acquisition of LogicTools is looking like a master stroke that will enable ILOG to bring real innovation to supply chain management, especially in the area of sales and operations planning.”

“ILOG Plus LogicTools Brings Innovation to Supply Chain Planning” provides an in-depth explanation of why the ILOG- LogicTools combo works. Many players in the supply chain management (SCM) application market have become mired in offerings that deliver few new solutions. However, by bringing together their vast experience in a broad range of software disciplines, ILOG and LogicTools provide a new perspective on this market.

Building on strengths
LogicTools contributes more than 10 years of development work in supply chain network design and multitier inventory optimization, while ILOG offers the leading mathematical and constraint optimization products and the PowerOps suite of manufacturing and logistics applications. Together, they hold the potential of overcoming many of today’s greatest SCM challenges.

For instance, ILOG software can use carbon emissions as a constraint in transportation network planning to determine “green” supply chains that reduce the amount of pollution produced in shipping products. ILOG and LogicTools also provide strong what-if simulation capabilities that take the guesswork out of factoring in SCM constraints in making critical manufacturing decisions. These are just two areas covered in the article, which provides a good foundation for understanding the ILOG-LogicTools connection.

"Few suppliers are offering innovation in supply chain planning and management these days,” Mr. Bragg concludes. “Most are reworking ideas that have been around for many years. However, the combination of ILOG and LogicTools is creating new, valuable developments in this area."
