DIALOG 08

Conference brings users together

More than 300 customers and partners representing over 50 top companies attended DIALOG 08, ILOG’s first major user conference in five years. The event served as an opportunity for them to discuss industry trends and exchange ideas and best practices for overcoming business challenges.

Held Feb. 24-26 in Palms Springs, Calif., the conference was co-sponsored by IBM, Microsoft, Software AG and Wipro Technologies. Executives from co-sponsors and other companies, including Bayer, Equifax and Travelocity, presented case studies and held Q&As on working with ILOG and the direction of the industry in general.

Sessions covered business process management (BPM), service-oriented architecture (SOA) and Web 2.0 technologies. IT authority Scott Klosoky shared a new business model for managing speed and change in his “Do You Have Velocity Leadership?” presentation, and author Allen Fahden’s “Innovation Black Holes – How do You Avoid them?” addressed the need for flexible teams with strength-based roles.

Other notable speakers included Gartner Group Vice President and Chief Gartner Fellow Daryl Plummer, who discussed the intersection of SOA, rules, processes and events; Sandy Carter, author of “The New Language of Business: SOA & Web 2.0”; and Jon Ferraiolo of the OpenAjax Alliance, who presented “Power of Mashup Technology – Helping the Enterprise Meet the Promise of Web 2.0.”

“Bringing together so many from different disciplines and industries around the world gave all of us a wonderful opportunity to present recent advances and successes,” says ILOG Chairman and CEO Pierre Haren. “We’re confident this event inspired attendees with new ideas and insights.”

I want to thank everyone who participated in DIALOG 08. You made it a tremendous success and raised the standard for intercommunication between ILOG and its customers and partners.

In the current worldwide economic climate, we are all looking for more agile, cost-effective ways to run our operations. ILOG’s decision-support tools took center stage at the event, with attendees and presenters sharing the remarkable impact these technologies have had on their businesses.

Change management is a major challenge faced by all companies. This means putting new policies to work as soon as they are made – a task ILOG BRMS excels at.

Minimizing the usage of scarce resources is essential to the bottom line – a task in which ILOG CPLEX is the undisputed world leader.

DIALOG 08 also allowed us to share advances in our visualization product line, as well as introduce the new LogicTools Suite of Supply Chain Applications and how they can enhance Green Logistics initiatives.

We are already looking forward to future DIALOGs, and hope to see many of you at our smaller events throughout the year.
