Partnering is a must in our industry. Software companies are intertwined in a complex ecosystem where new products emerge daily, new standards yearly and new paradigms every five years.

For more than 10 years, ILOG has nurtured three different types of partnerships: complementary technology vendors, ISVs and SIs. Thanks to these partnerships, we have extended the reach of our products to a wide array of industries, and our partners have enabled their own customers to make better and faster decisions. ILOG’s acquisition of LogicTools is a natural extension of a profitable alliance with a top ISV. Through it, we will deliver new products, further new standards, and hopefully, provide innovation in SCM that will result in a new paradigm.

Our flat world keeps changing ever faster, and its growing complexity requires better decisions. Let us work together to make our planet a smoother place.

ILOG strengthens SCM position
To further strengthen its position in the market for supply chain applications, ILOG has entered into an agreement to acquire LogicTools (www.logic-tools.com).

The independant software vendor (ISV) is a rapidly growing U.S. provider of supply chain network design solutions and an innovator in inventory optimization, an area industry analysts say is essential to the next generation of supply chain management (SCM) applications.

Through the acquisition, ILOG will gain an R&D site in Oregon and an office in Chicago. LogicTools chairman and co-founder David Simchi-Levi, a professor at MIT, will stay on as a consultant to ILOG, and his co-founder, Edith Simchi-Levi, will continue as vice president of operations at LogicTools during the transition, after which she will assume a supply chain marketing role within ILOG. Once completed, the acquisition will add LogicTools’ more than 200 customers to ILOG’s installed base. LogicTools’ products and services will be used to complement ILOG’s recently introduced planning and scheduling applications for manufacturing and transportation.

LogicTools is no stranger to ILOG. The company has used ILOG CPLEX in all its Microsoft .NET-based products for more than five years as an ILOG ISV partner.

“ILOG and LogicTools’ complementary solutions will bring to the market the most advanced supply chain optimization capabilities,” says Dr. Simchi-Levi. “Our customers and partners will continue to receive the quality of service we are known for, and LogicTools’ employees will join a company with compatible culture and expanded opportunities for growth.”
