ILOG rides the Wave
Leading international IT research firm Forrester (www.forrester.com) named ILOG the strategic market leader for business rules in a recently published report, "The Forrester Wave™: Business Rule Platforms."

Forrester uses a comprehensive lab-based evaluation system to test the strengths and weaknesses of the top business rule software vendors against 174 criteria. ILOG emerged as the leader in strategy for Java business rule platforms, and ILOG JRules was described as “strong across the board” and “leads business rules platforms for Java.” According to the report, ILOG JRules is “one of the leading choices for enterprise platforms for cooperative development of business rules applications by IT developers and business users.”

“ILOG JRules has a strong architecture as a general-purpose rules platform,” writes John R. Rymer, author of the report, “including flexible rule processing, solid data access features and strong support for service orientation.”

Forrester also evaluated ILOG Rules for .NET, noting that the product should be viewed as “both a viable option for .NET-based rules development and indicator of ILOG’s commitment to new levels of fit and platform integration of future products.”

The Forrester report states that the business rule market is experiencing strong growth as users seek automated processes, and that the market will continue that growth trend, with both revenues and client interest rising. For ILOG, the report concludes that the company “has a strong corporate strategy to support rules platforms.”

BREReportBusiness rule engine report
Market share leader
In report released in December 2005 by Gartner Dataquest (www.dataquest.com), ILOG is ranked the worldwide market share leader in the business rule engine (BRE) software market, based on license revenue for 2004.

The "Market Share: Business Rule Engine Software, Worldwide, 2004" report provides detailed analysis of the market. For ILOG, it shows an 18.1 percent market share.

The report affirms the importance of BRMS to industry and indicates that the total worldwide BRE software market experienced a double-digit year-over-year growth from 2003 to 2004, and that “growth is anticipated to continue as BREs deliver business process efficiencies, improved integration, enhanced development tools and data access.”

The research also states that “business users want to change rules without going through a long-running change process that is, at best, measured in days and, at worst, measured in weeks and months. BREs allow end users to make dynamic real-time changes to their applications in an abstracted level of language.”

ILOG has consistently built on its history of product innovation to make ILOG JRules, its flagship business rule management system, a top product in the BRE market, where it is used in a broad range of applications.
