BEABEA
Faster response through rules
BEA (www.bea.com) has designated ILOG as a preferred business rule technology vendor for BEA WebLogic Workshop™, a business process management (BPM) application development framework. ILOG JRules will be used to extend the capabilities offered to WebLogic Workshop customers in finance, insurance, telecommunications and government markets. A key offering in ILOG’s Business Rule Management System (BRMS) product line, ILOG JRules eliminates the time-consuming practice of implementing policies through hard coding by providing an easy-to-use rule-building environment and a central repository for sharing and deploying rules.

“We’re collaborating with ILOG because they have a strong commitment to standards and to the developer community,” says Scott Edgington, BEA vice president and general manager of worldwide channels and alliances, “and because ILOG JRules helps provide the enterprise scope and integration ease required by our BEA WebLogic Workshop customers.”

BEA WebLogic Workshop is a full-featured, graphical Java development environment designed to enable information technology staff to more easily build and assemble enterprise-scale Web applications, Web services, JSPs, portals, EJBs, and process workflows optimized for a service-oriented architecture (SOA). Integrated with the WebLogic Workshop framework, ILOG JRules lets developers easily create policy-based services orchestrated by BEA Workshop Process Workflow. Building services based on ILOG JRules enables business users to rapidly change the policies defining these services, resulting in a permanent alignment of corporate strategy and IT infrastructure.

InterDesign Technologies
Designs on ILOG Views
Three years ago, InterDesign Technologies Inc. (www.interdesign.co.jp) began basing the interfaces of its entire product line on ILOG Views. The results have been so compelling that the company has signed on as an ILOG partner to strengthen its position as a provider of ILOG visualization products.

A leading supplier of electronic design automation (EDA) products in Japan, the independent software vendor (ISV) became an ILOG partner to meet the strong demand in Japan for ILOG visualization technology, which InterDesign has deployed in more than 20,000 customer installations.

“ILOG Views creates a visually rich, user-friendly interface, which in turn enhances the ease of use of our products, including VisualSpec,” says Masaru Ito, COO of InterDesign. “As we continue to expand the EDA market in Japan, partnering with innovative companies such as ILOG will help accelerate the use of InterDesign’s tools.”

ILOG Views is used across InterDesign’s entire line of products:

  • VisualSpec: Improves embedded system designs while shortening their design process time. A GUI based on ILOG Views enables customers to increase modeling efficiency in the upstream phase of the system-level design process.
  • VisualMech: Merges mechanical and electronic technologies. With ILOG Views, it helps users more effectively leverage virtual prototype environments.
  • Venet: Uses ILOG Views’ advanced graph layout algorithms in modeling and simulating networks, applying the control area network (CAN) protocol.

Worldwide, ILOG has more than 400 ISV partners that use ILOG products to greatly reduce development time and cost, while improving the solutions they deliver to their customers.
