Intellinsure: ILOG’s virtual insurer
You’ve read the book, now see the movie
Want to learn more about what ILOG JRules can offer you, or need help making colleagues see the light? The new Intellinsure demo is just the ticket. Complete with narrated video and on-screen animation, this seven-minute demo of a virtual insurance company shows you how business rules are written, deployed and applied with ILOG’s market-leading Business Rule Management System (BRMS).

The demo walks you through the complete life cycle of a new business rule, from inception by a business analyst to validation and deployment by a software architect. Then, without taking the system offline, the new rule is put in production and used with new quote requests.

Based on a typical ILOG JRules deployment, the demo illustrates how companies can shorten time to market for new or updated products and services, as well as the speed and efficiency with which a mission-critical application can be changed.

W3C W3C
10-year anniversary
The World Wide Web Consortium (W3C: www.w3c.org) recently celebrated its 10th anniversary by bringing together prominent figures in the formation and wide-spread adoption of the Internet.

Jean-François Abramatic, ILOG’s chief product officer and a member of the W3C Advisory Board, participated by moderating the opening session, which featured Sir Tim Berners Lee, inventor of the World Wide Web and Director of W3C. The all-day symposium in Boston included talks and panel sessions on how the Web was started, why the W3C was founded and the role the organization has played in contributing to the development of the Internet.

ILOG has long been a contributor to the W3C. It helped lead the effort to standardize scalable vector graphics (SVG), an XML language for describing 2D graphics. Dr. Abramatic served as W3C chairman from 1996-2001. He has advised the French government on Internet matters, and is a former director of the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers. At ILOG, Dr. Abramatic oversees product development, management and marketing, directing an international team of scientists, product managers and software engineers.

Leo Hecke New ILOG VP
Hecke leads sales for Americas
Leo Hecke has been appointed ILOG vice president of sales for the Americas, making him responsible for driving sales of ILOG’s software products and services in the region.

Reporting to Bounthara Ing, ILOG’s chief operating officer, Mr. Hecke replaces Bob Cooper, who left ILOG to pursue other career interests. Mr. Hecke joined ILOG in 2000 to lead the company’s Communications Business Division for the Americas and has been part of the execution team that established ILOG’s sales presence throughout the United States and Canada.

Prior to joining ILOG, Mr. Hecke served as the senior director of sales at Blaze Software (now Fair Isaac Corporation), where he was responsible for expanding the company’s sales through original equipment maker and indirect channel partnerships.

“On day one with ILOG, Leo immediately established himself as a leader within our company and has contributed significantly to the successful expansion of ILOG in our North American market year after year,” says Mr. Ing. “We feel that his past contribution, combined with his drive, expertise and professionalism, made him the clear choice to lead the Americas sales organization.”

As a seasoned veteran with more than 20 years of IT and telecommunications experience at the senior sales management level, Mr. Hecke has worked for some of the industry’s leading technology companies, including Sun Microsystems’ JavaSoft Division, IBM and 3COM Corporation.

ILOG spreads the word
ILOG has been on the road, demonstrating why ILOG’s Business Rule Management System (BRMS) is the leading choice for automating decision-making in business rule applications.

In October and November 2004, it participated in six North American trade shows, including Gartner Symposium ITXpo, Business Rules Forum and e-Financial WorldExpo. In other regions, it took part in such events as Finance Forum in Switzerland, a series of FileNet UserNet Meetings in Europe and conferences in Australia.

“ILOG’s continued desire to closely partner with their customers was exemplified during our recent joint effort to prepare and present a paper at the 2004 Business Rules Forum,” says Brian Stucky, TSE&I Enterprise Rule Steward at Freddie Mac. “The truly collaborative effort resulted in a presentation that went smoothly and was very well received.”
