Sabre And ILOG Team To Bring Information Technology Solutions To The Travel And Transportation Industries
Expanded Partnership to Integrate ILOG Product Lines into New Sabre Travel Products
FORT WORTH, TEXAS and MOUNTAIN VIEW, CALIF., September 25, 2000 -
Sabre Holdings Corporation (NYSE: TSG) and ILOG (NASDAQ: ILOG; NM) today announced an agreement that will expand information technology solutions offered by Sabre for the e-travel and transportation industries. The five-year agreement allows for the integration of ILOG's product suites of optimization, graphical user interface and business rule engine software into existing and future Sabre airline and online products.
New Sabre products to integrate ILOG technology include Sabre's newest web-enabled crew management system, AirCrews™ 5.0, announced earlier this month.
ILOG software components included in the agreement are used to automate functions on the Web, graphically-depict and manage geographically dispersed assets, and optimize business efficiency. Sabre is also using ILOG's market-leading optimization product, ILOG CPLEX, for its airline flight scheduling (AirFlite™) and yield management (AirMax™) products. The company is also using ILOG OPL Studio, an interactive design environment that lets users create sophisticated optimization models without a detailed knowledge of computer programming. Today's announcement represents a strengthening and expansion of the Sabre-ILOG relationship.
"Teaming with ILOG illustrates our commitment to investing in new technology," said Richard Ratliff, vice president, Technology and Product Integration, for Sabre. "We selected ILOG because we judged their products to be the best against competitive offerings, and because they are the market leader in most, if not all of their product categories. We look forward to integrating these tools as we continue to develop world-class solutions for the travel and transportation industries."
The company is evaluating integrating ILOG Solver optimization software into its business-to-business computer reservation system (CRS) in order to support improved real-time decision making processes, as well as many of its other decision support products. In addition to operating the world's number one computer reservation system, Sabre also provides software solutions to 150 airlines around the world, including the top 10 airlines.
ILOG JRules Java-based business rule engine, which is used extensively to add personalization and self-service functionality to Web sites, will be used by Sabre for upcoming undisclosed products. ILOG JRules provides users the ability to create business rules, for the first, time via a customizable business rule language that quickly updates applications on the Web. The product could be used to develop a custom rule language for reservation agents, for example, which would allow them to quickly update Web promotions and special offers.
ILOG Visualization Suite of graphical user interfaces tools, used for creating detailed, visually-rich GUIs, is also being used for future undisclosed projects.
