ILOG and Sybase Partner to Provide an Agile Straight Through Processing Platform

ILOG JRules to Extend Financial Fusion® TradeForce™ Platform to Business Users

PARIS - May 28, 2003 - ILOG® (NASDAQ: ILOG; Euronext SICOVAM: 006673), a leading provider of enterprise-class software components, today announced an agreement with Sybase (NYSE: SY), to collaborate on a new straight-through processing (STP) solution that will let customers dynamically manage their STP processes using business rule management. The result will bring Financial Fusion's TradeForce Solution to a wider audience that includes business users in capital markets firms. Financial Fusion is a Sybase subsidiary. The agreement calls for the creation of a reference architecture for an agile STP solution that combines the business rule management functionality of ILOG JRules™, with the powerful enterprise application integration (EAI) features of the market-leading TradeForce Solution. Sybase and ILOG plan to co-market the solution to securities and investment firms in France.

The collaboration is expected to expand the user base for TradeForce by giving asset managers, brokers and other business users more control over trade orders and STP processes, while allowing them for this first time to dynamically deploy business policy changes via ILOG JRules' advanced business rule management features. For ILOG, the agreement should expand the footprint of ILOG JRules within STP applications, particularly those touched by FIX, Omgeo or SWIFT protocols. ILOG JRules is already deployed by leading securities firms for asset management.

"Trade Force has provided value as a critical EAI bridge between applications using different financial standards, streamlining financial message connectivity," said Arnaud de Chavagnac, Business Development Director, Financial Fusion. "By adding ILOG JRules to the solution, we will be able to give business users more access to the power of TradeForce, while creating a more agile STP platform."

"By bringing together the market leaders in STP EAI platforms and business rule management, this agreement will provide many benefits to the securities firms that want to realize the true benefits of an agile IT architecture. I am looking forward to the results that Financial Fusion and Sybase customers will realize -- particularly increased ROI for STP through IT cost savings and more customer service-centric organizations," said Eric Brisson, ILOG vice president, Strategic Business Development.

Business Rule Management Supercharges Agility
ILOG JRules will complement the TradeForce Solution by automating decisions related to compliance (pre-trade and post-trade validation), reference data management and exception management.

TradeForce receives and processes trade orders, which are passed on to ILOG JRules for compliance checking so that orders can be sent to the stock exchange. Previously, customers relied on business rules hard-coded in Java, which severely limited agility since compliance rules are very dynamic and require frequent updating. Using ILOG JRules, business users in securities firms and brokerages will be able to change the rules governing compliance themselves. It also frees up brokers to deal only with exceptions, since the order validation process is automated.

ILOG JRules will also be used with the TradeForce Solution to enable reference data management, which ensures that data received from different financial information sources (Reuters, Bloomberg, etc.) is processed for accurate database storage and sharing among different trading applications.

TradeForce Solution is an STP solution that enables customers to standardize their financial messaging system for trade initiation, reconciliation and settlement cycles. TradeForce Solution manages the distribution of financial messages and supports a wide range of protocols, including FIX, SWIFT, FpML, , Omgeo, EMX and RITD. Based on 100% Java/EJB architecture, TradeForce Solution is the ideal solution to support the advancement of STP in financial institutions.

ILOG JRules has maintained its industry-leading role. For the second year in a row, ILOG has been named to the leader quadrant of Gartner's Magic Quadrant for Business Rule Engines based on its ability to execute and its vision.
