ILOG and Amper Sistemas Enhance Homeland Security in Spain
Amper Sistemas Uses ILOG's Visualization Software
In “Early Warning System” for Border Protection
MADRID – DECEMBER 17, 2003 - ILOG® (NASDAQ: ILOG; Euronext: ILO,
ISIN: FR0004042364), a leading supplier of enterprise-class software components
and services, today announced that Amper Sistemas, part of the Amper Spanish
Telecommunications Group and a leading system integrator of transmission and
networking systems, has deployed ILOG's visualisation software as part of an
early warning system aimed at monitoring illegal activities and security threats
on Spain’s southern coast.
ILOG Views™ and ILOG Server ™software are used as part of a sophisticated
External Surveillance Integrated System (SIVE) deployed on Spain’s southern
coast. The Spanish Homeland Security office (Guardia Civil) initiated the SIVE
system to control the growing flow of illegal maritime embarkations –
especially small embarkations around the coasts of Cádiz and Málaga,
which can be hard to detect. The SIVE system stresses early detection, enabling
threats to be identified proactively, and is the cornerstone of an “early
warning system”. It also provides a platform for testing technologies
for future projects.
Using ILOG’s advanced real-time graphical displays, operators in Command
and Control Centers can detect, locate and monitor embarkations used for illegal
activities such as drug trafficking and illegal immigration. ILOG Server processes
incoming data from sensors deployed on the ground, in aircraft, in boats and
on satellites, and then synchronizes the data in real-time. Used in concert
with ILOG Server, ILOG Views helps create the surveillance interface for SIVE
and provides system operators with an intuitive and user-friendly way to monitor
the area under surveillance at any given time, enabling them to make decisions
more rapidly while reducing errors.
ILOG Professional Services worked together with Amper Sistemas in the early
stage of the project to optimize the initial modeling and design of the solution,
sharing with the project team ILOG’s best practices, which contributed
to the successful implementation.
“The SIVE system is unique in the world for providing the greatest level
of control over maritime drug and illegal immigration trafficking, and as a
result, has resulted in interest from several countries in the system,”
said Matías Anegón, Managing Director, Amper Sistemas S.A. “Among
various key elements of this critical system are its intuitive user-displays
provided by ILOG, which enable users of the system to interactively monitor
the area under surveillance, make decisions and take action faster.”
