ILOG Joins Eclipse as First Business Rules Vendor

ANAHEIM, Calif., – February 2, 2004 –ILOG® (NASDAQ: ILOG; Euronext SICOVAM: 006673), a leading provider of enterprise-class software components and services, today announced it has joined the Eclipse consortium as its first business rule technology vendor. Eclipse is the leading platform for Java development tool integration, utilized by Java developers in small and large independent software vendors and in end user organizations in over 125 countries. The announcement was made at EclipseCon, the first annual technical conference for Eclipse, held February 2-5, 2004 at the Disneyland Hotel in Anaheim, Calif.

ILOG is a leader of the growing business rules software industry segment, according to market research firm Gartner (source: The Business Rule Engine 2003 Magic Quadrant, Jim Sinur, April 2003) and Forrester Research, which recommends customers “shortlist ILOG” when looking for a rule management platform.

“Business rule management systems are becoming increasingly important to enterprise Java applications, and so we’re pleased that ILOG has joined Eclipse,” said Skip McGaughey, Eclipse spokesperson. “ILOG’s history delivering innovative product features and proven commitment to the Java platform supports expansion of the Eclipse ecosystem to new areas of development technology.”

Eclipse, an independent not-for-profit corporation, implements an open, multilanguage platform for tool integration that is created through open source projects. It is designed to provide developers with more flexible control over integration of their software applications. The Eclipse integrated development environment (IDE) has been downloaded more than 18 million times in over 475,000 unique organizations.

“The decision to join Eclipse, and take an active role in the evolution of what is fast becoming the foremost Java platform among developers worldwide, was a natural one for ILOG,” said Jean-Francois Abramatic, chief product officer, ILOG. “ILOG JRules is widely considered the leading business rule management system for the Java platform, and joining Eclipse will help ensure that business rules are fully integrated in the entire application development lifecycle.”
