WINWORKS and ILOG Collaborate on Workforce Scheduling for Specialty Retailers in Japan

WINWORKS One Leverages ILOG CPLEX To Optimize Staff Scheduling

TOKYO – April 3, 2007 – ILOG® (NASDAQ: ILOG; Euronext: ILO, ISIN: FR0004042364) and WINWORKS® KK, a leading Japanese independent software vendor (ISV), today announced that WINWORKS has selected ILOG CPLEX optimization software for its WINWORKS One workforce scheduling solution. The companies also today announced that they will cooperate on joint marketing activities.

Targeting specialty retailers in Japan, WINWORKS One leverages CPLEX to achieve the effective utilization of personnel to maximize profits, minimize lost sales opportunities and balance customer service goals by matching available personnel with business needs. Optimization technology is essential to workforce scheduling because it ensures that organizations find feasible schedules and efficiencies that would not be possible without the technology’s solving power.

WINWORKS One leverages ILOG CPLEX to match staff levels with the skills necessary for a work site, and creates an optimal work schedule at the touch of a button. It also ensures compliance with Labor Standards Law, employment contracts, as well as company rules and regulations. The software minimizes lost sales opportunities created by staff shortages and reduces overtime hours, resulting in practical and efficient management of labor costs. The software also ensures fair treatment of all staff, by taking into account individual staff preferences, and allows managers to clearly see all conditions that might impact a schedule. Based on advanced mathematics ILOG CPLEX is the world's most widely-adopted optimization engine.

More than 1,000 commercial customers, including 50 of the Fortune 100, use ILOG optimization tools, engines and applications to solve the world's most challenging planning and scheduling problems.
