Write and edit rule statements |
PREVIOUS NEXT |
When writing business rules in ILOG Rule Solutions for Office, you can either type rule statements directly or insert pre-defined rule fragments from a completion menu (see Use the completion menu).
Placeholders indicate places in a rule statement that need to be completed with the name of a business term, a value, or some other rule statement fragment in order to construct a valid phrase. Placeholders are identified with angle brackets. For example, the following building block contains a placeholder <a customer>:
the age of <a customer>
To complete this statement, click the placeholder. You can then either start typing a value or business term, or choose an option from the completion menu. The options proposed in the completion menu may contain additional placeholders that you must also complete in order to construct a valid phrase.
The building blocks available to you in the completion menu, and the different ways in which these building blocks can be combined, are defined in your company's business vocabulary.
