You can scan through all the rules in the current document for syntax errors and fix them either by choosing one of the options proposed, or by correcting the error directly in the document.

To check rule syntax
  1. Place the cursor before the rule(s) you want to check, or select a section of the document that contains rules.
  2. In the Rules tab, in the Review group, click Check Syntax.
  3. The Check Rule Syntax dialog box appears and the syntax checker starts scanning your document for syntax errors.
    If an error is found, it is highlighted in the document and in the Check Rule Syntax dialog box. The Suggestions box lists suggested corrections.
  4. To correct an error, click one of the suggestions in the Suggestions box, then click Change.
  5. Or:
    Click in the document and edit the rule directly, then click Resume to continue checking the document.
  6. To ignore an error, click Ignore.
  7. To ignore all errors in the current rule and resume scanning from the next rule in the document, click Ignore Rule.
