In this step you identify and correct several errors in the "Default Special Offer: Pricing" rule.

This will familiarize you with the various error detection and correction features available in ILOG Rule Solutions for Office.

Identify and correct errors
  1. In the RuleDoc Outline section of the RuleDoc pane, click the "Default Special Offer: Pricing" rule.
  2. Notice that several parts of the rule are highlighted with a red wavy underline.
  3. These marks indicate errors in the rule. The errors are also listed in the Problem List section at the bottom of the RuleDoc pane.

  4. Click the misspelled word "agrement" in the If part of the "Default Special Offer: Pricing" rule, and hold your mouse pointer over the word.
  5. After a short delay, an error tip icon appears.
  6. Move the mouse over the error tip icon to display a short description of the error, then click the error tip icon to display a list of suggested fixes.
  7. Click the suggested fix "the rental agreement" to correct the error in the document.
  8. Right-click the misspelled word "discont" in the Then part of the rule to display a list of suggested fixes.
  9. Click the suggested fix "discount" to correct the error.
  10. On the Rules tab, in the Review group, click Check Syntax.
  11. The Check Rule Syntax dialog box appears, and the next error in the document is selected.
    A description of the error (a missing semicolon at the end of the action statement) is displayed at the top of the dialog box, and a list of suggested fixes is displayed in the Suggestions box.
  12. Click the suggested fix "Insert word ";" " in the Suggestions box and click Change to correct the error.
  13. If there are any other errors in the document, the next error is highlighted. Otherwise, a message appears indicating that the rule syntax check is complete.
  14. Click Save (or press CTRL+S) to save your changes before continuing.
