The RuleDoc pane |
PREVIOUS NEXT |
The RuleDoc pane lists the business rules contained in the current RuleDoc and allows you to view and edit their properties.
To open or close the RuleDoc pane, click the Rules tab, and in the View group, click RuleDoc Pane.
The RuleDoc pane has three sections:
Use the RuleDoc Outline section of the RuleDoc pane to quickly view and select rules in a RuleDoc.
To select a rule, click its name in the RuleDoc Outline list. The rule is selected in the document and the properties of the selected rule are shown in the Rule Properties list.
By default, just the name of each rule is displayed in the RuleDoc Outline. You can list additional rule properties by clicking the Show Details button and selecting additional columns to display.
Click the header of any column to sort the list by that column. Click a second time to reverse the sort order. To return to the default sort order, click the Sort rules according to their position in the document button.
The Rule Properties section of the RuleDoc pane allows you to view and edit the properties of the currently selected rule.
A rule property that is grayed out in the list cannot be modified.
Rule Properties include authoring properties (such as the name of the rule, the author, and the date the rule was last modified), execution properties (such as the rule's priority), and management properties (custom properties defined in your BRMS, such as a rule's expiration date, the line of business to which it applies, and its status).
To list rule properties in alphabetical order, click Sort Alphabetically. To arrange rules by category, click Sort by Category.
To display a rule property directly in your document, position the cursor so that it is inside a rule but outside of the Rule Body section, then click Insert Property in Document.
To edit the value of a property, you can:
If you have inserted a rule property into your RuleDoc, you can also edit its value directly in the document.
To reset the value of a property, click Reset the Property to its Default Value.
You can expand or collapse each section of the RuleDoc pane by clicking the Expand/Collapse button to the right of each section title.
You can float the RuleDoc pane as a separate window instead of it being docked to the main document window. To do this, move the pointer over the title bar of the pane, and drag the pane to the desired position. As the pointer approaches a side of the main program window, the pane docks on that side. To avoid docking, hold down CTRL as you drag the pane towards a side.
The Problem List section of the RuleDoc pane displays any errors detected in the current document.
The Problem List shows:
Each error is also highlighted in the RuleDoc with a wavy red line.
Click an error in the Problem List to select the corresponding error in the document. Double-click an error to select it and move the selection focus to the document.
For more information about identifying and fixing problems with the problem list, see Identify and fix problems with your rules.
