ILOG Rules for .NET User Guides > ILOG Rule Solutions for Office > Managing RuleDocs > Manage RuleDocs using Rule Team Server for SharePoint > Copy an existing RuleDoc

All rules within your BRMS have a unique identifier. If you create a new RuleDoc by copying an existing RuleDoc, the original identifiers will be duplicated. You must regenerate unique identifiers for the rules in the duplicate RuleDoc file to avoid any risk of conflict with the existing rules in your rule repository.

To save a copy of an existing RuleDoc
  1. Click the Office Button images/msoffice_button.png , then click Save As.
  2. Navigate to the folder where you want to save the copied RuleDoc.
  3. If required, enter a new file name.
    Note
The best practice is to place all the rules belonging to a package inside a RuleDoc that has the same name as the package.
To regenerate unique identifiers
  1. On the Rules Tab, in the Customize group, choose Options > Advanced Options.
  2. Click Regenerate Identifiers.
  3. New unique identifiers are created for all the rules and ruleflows in the RuleDoc.
This command also modifies the Author, Creation Date, Last Modification Author, and Last Modification Date properties of each rule affected.
