Using the Properties of Business Rules

The properties of a business rule appear in the Properties window. You can use these properties throughout the life cycle of a business rule:

Design: When writing your rules, you can use properties to store information about the state of the property in the designing process, or place information about the people involved in writing the rules.

And in ILOG Rule Studio for .NET, you can use the Find Rules window to search for all the rules that match a given criteria based on some property values.

Publishing: When publishing business rules, you can build a rule query based on the value of some properties so that only a subset of the rules available in Rule Studio is sent to ILOG Rule Team Server for SharePoint. For more information on publishing, see Publishing a Rule Project.
Deployment: You can also use a rule query to specify that only a subset of the rules contained within a rule project must be included in the output of the project. For more information on the configuration of a rule project, see Rule Project Object Property Pages.
Runtime: At runtime, you can use rule properties to filter the agenda of the rule engine. This enables you to dynamically select which rules are evaluated.
