Inserting & Removing Columns

You can insert and remove columns using either the shortcut menu of the Decision Table Editor or the decision table toolbar.

Inserting columns in a decision table is equivalent to adding conditions or actions--depending on the type of column--to a rule.

To insert a condition column in a decision table

In the Decision Table Editor, right-click a condition column next to the where you want to insert the new condition column, and on the shortcut menu click Insert and then click Insert Condition Column Left or Insert Condition Column Right.

A new condition column appears in the decision table.

To insert an action column in a decision table

In the Decision Table Editor, right-click an action column next to the where you want to insert the new action column, and on the shortcut menu click Insert and then click Insert Action Column Left or Insert Action Column Right.

A new action column appears in the decision table.

To remove a column from a decision table

In the Decision Table Editor, right-click the column you want to remove, and on the shortcut menu click Remove Columns.

The column and any dependent cells are removed from the decision table.

A decision table must have at least one condition column and one action column. If you try to remove the last action column from the table, the column is removed and an empty one replaces it. Similarly, if you remove the last condition column from a decision table, the column and its dependents are removed and a new empty column replaces it.
