ILOG Rules for .NET User Guides > Rule Studio > Defining Business Object Models > Categorizing the Members of a Business Object Model

In ILOG Rule Studio for .NET you can organize business rules and the members of business object models into categories. This enables you to switch to Category Mode and write rules using only those members of the business object model whose categories match the categories of the rule.

By default, all business rules belong to the predefined category Any. When you edit rules in this category and turn on Category Mode, all members of the business object model can be used in the rule.

To categorize a member of a business object model
  1. Open the Properties window for the member.
  2. In the Categories property, enter one or more categories for the rule.
  3. You can type directly into the Categories box separating each category by a comma, or click the ellipsis (...) at the end of the box to open a string editor, which is easier to use for entering long lists of categories.
