ASP.NET Ajax support
ILOG Gantt for .NET 3.5 introduces three new Web controls that add Ajax functionalities to ILOG Gantt for NET's ASP.NET Web components.

The following Ajax interactions are supported:

  • The Gantt chart control supports activity editing (start and end time modification), constraint creation, row selection, time scale panning and zooming and active scroll bars.
  • The schedule chart control supports activity editing (start time and end time modification), copying activities to new resources, moving activities to new resources, row selection, time scale panning and zooming and active scroll bars.
  • The reservation chart supports activity editing (start time and end time modification), row selection, timescale panning and zooming, active scroll bars.

Time scale improvements
The time scale control can now display labels that are centered on ticks, not only between ticks.

Grid improvements
It is now possible to draw Gantt sheet grids on a per-row basis, rather than for the whole Gantt sheet.

New and modified examples
The new and modified examples for ILOG Gantt for .NET 3.5 are:

  • Benchmark—This new example shows ILOG Gantt for .NET's performance by benchmarking a few common tasks.
  • Overview—This new example gives an overview of ILOG Gantt for .NET by demonstrating the main controls and features.
  • Absence calendar—This new exmple shows how to display the availability of resources, by drawing a working times grid in the resource row.
  • Custom timeline—This new example shows how to create a non-linear time line based on a work calendar.
  • Legend—This new example shows how to create a control that displays the different styles used in a Gantt sheet as a legend.
  • Time grid—This new examples shows how to use the different time grid components.
  • Time scale—The modified example has been modified to show the possible representations that one can achieve with the new time scale features.

Project Management Option
Development is easier than ever before with ILOG Gantt for .NET 3.0.

Improved views, grouping and styling help you build charts that are more intuitive and more interactive. New services make data editing, persistency and localization easier.

The Project Management option allows you to build custom project management applications for your enterprise.

Microsoft Microsoft Visual Studio 2005—Improved ADO.NET support
ILOG Gantt for .NET leverages the new integration between Microsoft Visual Studio®.NET 2005 and ADO.NET by providing a customizable Gantt model adapter—the GenericGanttModelAdapter. This adapter is completely configurable under Microsoft Visual Studio .NET 2005 through a custom wizard and does not require the use of a specific dataset.

Microsoft Visual Studio 2005—Smart tags support
Smart tag support improves design time by enabling quick access to the most commonly used properties of the ILOG Gantt for .NET controls without having to leave the Microsoft Visual Studio .NET designer.

Microsoft Visual Studio 2005
Smart tags for a Gantt chart.

Microsoft Visual Studio 2005—Managed visual style application program interfaces (APIs) for Windows® Forms
The ILOG Gantt for .NET controls can now be rendered using the current Windows XP theme through Windows Forms 2.0's managed visual style application programming interface (API).

Microsoft Visual Studio 2005—Using the power of the GDI text rendering engine
Windows® Forms Gantt controls can now use the new GDI text rendering engine of the .NET 2.0 framework to improve the performance of the controls. The GDI text rendering engine is used by the Windows® operating system and can fully support the rendering of language characters supported by the Windows operating system.

Flexible tree table

  • Group rows according to user preferences. For example, activities can be arranged by duration or by resource.
  • Define colors to easily distinguish each groups rows.
  • Set default node displays to expanded or collapsed views. Vertical lines can be displayed in the tree column.
Flexible TreeTable
Group activities according to their duration. This example uses a light blue background color for each group, and vertical lines in the tree table.

Expressive styles
Expressions and styles now work with reservations. For example, when the reserved unit consumes less than 100 percent of an assigned resource, the corresponding activity bar can be set to display as semitransparent.

Expressive styles
Styles now work with reservations. In this example, activities that use 1005 of resource capacity are displayed in blue. Activities that use less than 100% of the capacity are semi-transparent, and half the width of normal activities.

Workforce scheduling tools

  • Manage working/idle hours and days with the new Work calendar editor. The Work calendar editor can be used during design and at runtime.
  • A new grid displays idle time based on the WorkCalendar.
  • Adjust the timeline to reflect the Work calendar. For example, idle time can be eliminated from the timeline.

Reservation controls
Create compelling views with the new Reservation table, Reservation sheet and Reservation Gantt controls. Combining these controls with the grouping feature allows you to produce distinctive displays. For example, when grouping by resource, you can assign the resource a single row per activity.

Reservation controls
Create distinctive displays with reservation controls. In this example, a reservation view groups activities by resource, sorted by start time. Each resource has a clear plan.

Data editing with less code

  • Style definitions govern interactions within the Gantt chart, allowing editing without coding. For example, when a style defines the bar that displays PercentComplete, no coding is required to edit the property—the interaction happens automatically. Tool tips and cursors can be defined for each interaction.
  • Cycles in constraints are now managed by the Base Gantt model.
  • Exceptions during interactions trigger events. For example, the developer can define a panel that warns the user that hes created a constraint cycle.

Persistency
SDXL format automatically supports user-defined properties that are added to the model.

Localization
Resource files can be translated for worldwide deployment. A tool automatically generates satellite assemblies for the local audience.

Project Management option
Rapidly create and deploy custom project management applications. ILOG Gantt for .NET's Project Management option lets you build full-featured applications specifically designed for your enterprise and your partners. Extensive personalization doesnt mean higher costs: Project Management lets you deliver custom applications for much less than the cost of off-the-shelf project management solutions.

Project Management Option
Build full-featured applications with the Project Management option. In this example, red activities are critical. Critical activities can not be changed without modifying the entire duration.

Web Form controls
Quickly deploy Gantt charts over the Web using Web Form controls. All of ILOG Gantt for .NET 1.0s Windows Form controls are available for Web Form/ASP.NET applications:

  • Visual controls are managed by the application hosted in the IIS server. The ASP.NET application generates HTML code that is sent to the browser for display.
  • Nonvisual controls, like data models, are identical for both Web Form and Windows Form applications. Rapidly leverage code between Windows Forms applications and Web Forms applications.

Calendar view
A calendar view lets users visualize and edit activities in a familiar monthly display.

Dynamic data model
Add new properties to the data model without extra coding. Most applications require new properties in order to connect with the final data model. Instead of writing code, you simply declare the new property and display it in the Gantt chart, or create a new style.
