Before you Start

This topic describes the prerequisites for running the tutorial.

What You Need to Know

You should be familiar with J2EE technologies (J2EE packaging and deployment, and Ant).

Software Requirements

You need to have installed:

Rule Execution Server
You should run this tutorial on the JRules installed version of JBoss.

What You Will Learn

In this tutorial you will learn how to:

Run through a simple check list to see if the Rule Execution Server Console is running.
Deploy several Ruleapps using both the Rule Execution Server Console and Ant.
Manage different versions of the same Ruleapp.
Archive RuleApps from Rule Execution Server using Ant.

It will take you about an hour to carry out this tutorial.

Directory Structure

In this section, <TutorialsDir> refers to the tutorial installation directory. For example:

In Windows: <InstallDir>\executionserver\tutorials
In Unix: /usr/home/JRules<version>/executionserver/tutorials

The <TutorialsDir>/resruleappmanagement tutorial has the following structure:
