What is a Scenario? |
PREVIOUS NEXT |
A scenario is a defined collection of components, including a path to a deployed ruleset, input data, and performance tests, that can be executed as a test case on a set of business rules. The results of an executed scenario provide feedback on the performance of a set of rules without actually modifying those rules.
Scenario reports are saved and can be compared, allowing simulation of the behavior of a business rule environment over the evolution of rulesets.
The components of a scenario are the following:
Scenarios can be grouped together in scenario suites, which are lists of scenarios with a KPI that is calculated over the scenario results. Simulations are a list of scenario suites together with a KPI, which provide global feedback on the performance of scenario executions.
Regression testing can be performed on an evolving ruleset. In place of a specific test value, a reference is made to an earlier scenario report whose results are then used in the test comparison.
Scenario, scenario suite and simulation definitions, as well as their components such as input data and tests, can be saved together in a zip file called an RSM archive. An RSM archive allows Rule Scenario Manager components to be stored and transported in logical containers.
