Step 6: Execute the Decision Table

In this step you execute decision tables and view the results.

To execute a decision table:

In the Run menu, click Run.
In the Run dialog, select the Rule Project launch configuration decisiontable-start-configuration.
Click Run.

In the Console view, messages describing the actions carried out by the business rules in the project are displayed.

The rules apply as follows for the four rental agreements:

Julian Bayles' rental agreement is accepted because he is older than 25, meaning he is eligible to rent a car in all four states.
Mary Gerrard's rental agreement is accepted because she is over 21 and resides in a state where she is eligible to rent a car.
Alice Boorman's rental agreement is refused as she is younger than 25, which makes her ineligible to rent a car in Rhode Island. This is indicated by the message: In Rhode Island state, customer must be 25 or more to rent a car.
Evelyn Gosling's rental agreement is accepted because she is over 21 and resides in a state where she is eligible to rent a car.
