Using the Designer > Using More Designer Features > Using the Graph Layout Wizard

You can use the Graph Layout Wizard to set up a complete look and feel for the layout of a diagram instead of setting parameters singly.

Continue with the genealogy example which you customized in Changing Layout Parameters or choose File>Open and select <installdir>/jviews-diagrammer81/bin/designer/data/examples/genealogy.idpr if it is not already open.

Note
You can only use File>Open to open project files, not any other type of file.

The diagram is laid out according to a hierarchical Graph Layout algorithm, with several custom parameter settings.

In the Styling Customizer for the graph layout, click the top button in the vertical toolbar to the left images/diada_iconGLWiz.png . This opens the Graph Layout Wizard.

Click Next and then choose Organization Chart Diagram, see Figure 3.4. You can see a preview of the diagram to the right.

Click Next and then Finish.

You do not need to know the details of the parameter settings if you set up the layout in this way. But in case you are interested, you can look at the Styling Customizer with Graph Layout selected to see the property settings, for example, the layout type for the Organization Chart is Tree.

Choose File>Close to close the diagram. You are prompted to save your changes. In this case, click No so that you do not overwrite the previous settings.
