Compass

A Compass tab in the left of the Map Builder enables you to show a compass. This is useful when your map is displayed using a coordinate system that makes it difficult to recognize the direction.

If you change the projection of your map to, for example, Albers Equal Area and then zoom in a number of times, you may lose your sense of direction. However, if you click on the Compass tab you will see that it always indicates north as seen from the center of the view, see Figure 2.29.
