Importing Any File Type Using Menus

To select a file from any data source type, the Builder supplies a generic filter, "Import all known files" in the Select Data Sources pane, as shown in Figure 3.13.

To import a file of any known type, do the following:

  1. Choose File>Add Map Data, the Select Data Sources pane appears.
  2. Select one or more file(s).
    3. Depending on the type of file selected, a pane will appear at the right of the Select Data Sources pane.
  3. Enter any additional information necessary to open the file.
  4. Click Open. After loading, the data source appears in a separate layer of your current map.
