Join us for a series of interactive, in-depth and hands-on technical presentations and learn about IBM ILOG’s Optimization technologies, including the new IBM ILOG CPLEX 11, IBM ILOG CP Optimizer, the IBM ILOG OPL-CPLEX Development System and IBM ILOG Optimization Decision Manager (ODM).

The workshop is free and open to anyone with an interest in learning more about the latest optimization technology. Share your experiences with IBM ILOG Optimization and discuss ILOG’s technologies with other OR practitioners, researchers and instructors.

You will receive a workshop kit with note-taking printouts of all presentation slides, note-taking supplies and additional reference materials on ILOG’s optimization technologies and supportive technical programs.

ILOG Optimization Overview – Problem Taxonomy, Techniques and Capabilities
This presentation will provide an overview of ILOG's optimization technology and products, backed by a comprehensive offering of services to support, maintain and accelerate our customer's success. This presentation will also provide a brief overview of consulting services, offsite and onsite training services, maintenance services and technical support services.

Modeling Optimization Problems with CPLEX and CP Optimizer from IBM ILOG OPL-CPLEX Development System
IBM ILOG CPLEX® is the fastest available optimizer for solving linear, mixed integer, quadratic and mixed integer quadratic programs. IBM ILOG CPLEX includes application programming interfaces supporting the embedding of optimization models in all common software platforms. You will learn how to make the most of IBM ILOG CPLEX, improve performance on challenging large-scale mixed-integer programs and build state-of-the-art decision support applications. IBM ILOG CP Optimizer is a constraint programming (CP) optimizer for solving detailed scheduling problems as well as certain combinatorial optimization problems that cannot be easily solved using traditional mathematical programming methods. IBM ILOG CP Optimizer is an important complement to the optimization specialists' toolbox for solving real-world operational planning and scheduling problems—without a significant investment in R&D.

Hands-on Experience: The IBM ILOG OPL–CPLEX Development System
IBM ILOG OPL-CPLEX Development System 6.1 provides a powerful modeling and scripting language to develop optimization models, a rich integrated development environment (IDE) to build and test models with external data sources, and a variety of interfaces (APIs) to embed IBM ILOG OPL models into applications. You will learn and experience first-hand the new features inherent in ILOG OPL-CPLEX Development Studio, which facilitate faster and more robust development of IBM ILOG CPLEX applications.

Effective Modeling with IBM ILOG OPL-CPLEX Development System
The IBM ILOG OPL-CPLEX Development System provides the fastest and most flexible way to develop an optimization-based application. IBM ILOG OPL (Optimization Programming Language) is at the heart of IBM ILOG OPL Development Studio. IBM ILOG OPL is a modeling language that provides a number of unique benefits to facilitate modeling and application development. This presentation will cover modeling data input and model structure, and provide practical tips and techniques to make the best use of the ILOG OPL language to accelerate development of optimization applications.

Deploying Optimization Applications
The IBM ILOG optimization suite offers several approaches to the deployment of optimization-based models. Application Programming Interfaces (API’s) facilitate the embedding of optimization models in custom applications. Additionally, IBM ILOG Optimization Decision Manager (ODM) provides a rapid deployment path for prototyping optimization based decision support applications with facilities for multi-objective programming, scenario management and soft constraints.

Hands-on Experience: IBM ILOG ODM add-on for the IBM ILOG OPL-CPLEX Development System
Creating interactive planning applications is now straightforward. IBM ILOG Optimization Decision Manager (ODM) provides out-of-the-box support for what-if scenarios, solution comparison, soft constraints, scenario editing with business rules, and trade-offs between operational goals. Applications based on IBM ILOG ODM 3.1 now support charts and custom graphical views in addition to tables, making optimization even more accessible to operations managers and planners.
